On September 20th, the LIFE Harwin and LIFE Green Valleys team welcomed a delegation from the LIFE Atlantic Valleys project, led by the Walloon nature organization Natagora, for a visit to the Life Harwin project area. During this visit, we presented our respective projects and discussed the potential for knowledge exchange. All three projects have a strong focus on restoring endangered habitats, sharing multiple habitat types between projects, from dry heathland and species-rich Nardus meadows to wetter seepage-fed and water habitats, in which they stimulate biodiversity through targeted management.
As with the other LIFE projects, LIFE Atlantic Valleys has a strong focus on working with stakeholders and local communities to not only improve nature, but also ensure a sustainable future for the management of these areas.

After a more theoretical exchange, we visited some Life Harwin project areas (Wijngaardeberg and Beninksberg). This gave the teams the opportunity to see how restoration measures, in view of a more complete habitat restoration approach (design, management and translocation of species), can be applied in the field. By sharing knowledge and experiences, the first ideas for further collaboration and knowledge exchange between the projects took shape.
